The norms for applying for a passport has been simpklifie4d by the Government of India and now the authority has gone one step further in the simplifying the difficult process of applying for a passport. The Ministry of External Affairs has recently launched a mobile app that helps the Indian citizens to apply for a passport only by using their smartphones. The new mobile application name as the “Passport Seva app” which has been launched by addressing the officials at the Passport Kendras will provide the citizens passport-related services in a speedy, convenient and transparent manner through this application.

In the first scheme, the Ministry of External Affairs will make it easy for the citizens to apply for the passports from any part of the country. The other part of the scheme describes that the new app launched will help simplify the process of obtaining passports.
The plus point about this new application is that the citizens will be able to apply for passports from any part of India. The police verification after applying for the passport will be done in the address mentioned in the app. After the verification has been done, the passport will receive to the address mentioned in the app. The new application Passport Seva is available both on the Google Play Store as well as on the Apple’s App Store. Those who want to apply for the new passport through this app need to follow some steps.
The citizen can visit the passport website and then can fill the passport application form after they have created the user ID on the website. ‘mPassport Seva App can also be downloaded on the Android and iOS platforms and one can apply from the smartphone.
One can also choose the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) if anyone wants to visit the office in-person for processing of their passport application. Before this modification, a passport applicant had to visit the office of the city mentioned in their documents but one can now apply for the new passport without worrying about the city they are currently residing.
Let’s consider if a person is temporarily living in Kolkata but he/she is a resident of Jaipur then because of this new arrangement, the customer doesn’t have to travel all the way back to Jaipur only to the application and the documents required. Through this new mobile app, one can pay the application fees or can also schedule appointments for acquiring a passport.
