A bleacher is a device used in the edible oil refinery plant, which removes the dust, dirt and debris from the bleached light crude oil. It is usually a roller type conveyor system. The conveyor belts are connected to a drum containing the bleaching agent. Water and air are also pumped in the system through a filter press.
For a small edible oil refinery plant, the heat conduction oil burner system is used to provide adequate heating for the baking and drying processes. To maintain a constant temperature, high pressure and low temperatures are required in this equipment. The unit is manufactured by using steel tube frames, aluminum or stainless steel heat conduction furnaces and an optional electric motor.

The process of refining is carried out by using various mechanical and chemical methods such as cold cracking, hot cracking, Spray adhesives, Water dyes, Chromium Carbonate, Chlorine Halide etc. Some of the popular edible oils that are processed in India are coconut oil, palm oil, saffron oil, hazelnut oil, tea tree oil, lemon oil, grapefruit oil, lime oil, peanut oil etc.
There are two types of edible oil processing namely the hot method and the cold method. In the hot method, the oil is heated at approximately 100 degree Celsius for a short period of time to remove the impurities. After the heating process is over, the crude oil is then filtered and washed with water to remove the remaining impurities. The cleaned and refined product is then released into the market for further usage.
The cold method of processing is done by using cold air compression and cold surface processes. The product is collected after the procedure and transported on a conveyor belt to the finishing plant. In this type, impurities are left behind and a solid material is formed by compressing the solid material using high-pressure steam. This type is considered ideal for use in pharmaceuticals, automobile oils, textile fibres and synthetic fibers, textiles, rubber materials and other petroleum derivatives. Edible oil refining and packaging industries have grown considerably due to its demand across the globe.
