  1. Scholarship will be awarded on the eligibility criteria as mentioned in the table and performance in State / National Level Entrance Tests. Last date for application of scholarship is 25th July, 2019.
    For UG Course: Scores in Entrance Exams- CET / NEET / JEE Mains / WBJEE / NCHMCT-JEE and others
    For PG Course: Scores in Entrance Exams -MAT / XAT / CAT / GMAT / ATMA / CMA / PGET and others
  2. The medium of instruction at NSHM Knowledge Campus is English in all courses for which Asha Jyoti Scholarship 2019 is announced. All candidates for scholarships must have English as a subject in 10+2 Board Examination or Graduation.
  3. If at any stage any declaration/document submitted by a candidate is found to be materially incorrect, a scholarship awarded based on that shall be withdrawn and shall be treated as void ab initio. In this regard, the decision of the institute will be final including any matter of computation/interpretation etc.
  4. In case of withdrawal of scholarship at any stage subsequent to the award of scholarship, the student will be required to make full payment of fees as per the applicable normal (without scholarship)fee-payment plan and shall be bound to clear all arrears within the prescribed time.
  5. The scholarship will be awarded to Top 200 applicants. The Asha Jyoti Scholarship Committee withholds all rights regarding any disagreement and its decision in such cases will be final and binding.
  6. Scholarship is also open to students who have already taken admission in NSHM Knowledge Campus / Govt. Colleges / Any other private college in 2019.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MERIT-BASED SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

1.1. Merit will be judged based on the criteria provided in Table 1.1 / 1.2 / 1.3 (including footnotes). Marks of best 4 subjects for Class XII Board Examination will be considered for admission in Under Graduate Courses.
1.2. Select number of scholarships will be awarded.
1.3. The percentage computation of a Award will be based on semester payment plan only (irrespective of the actual payment plan opted by the student). The calculation will be made only on Semester Fee/Course Fee/Tuition Fee but not on Admission/Registration Fee or other components of fee like university fees, examination fees, library fee, caution deposits, student welfare/student activity/development fee, alumni fee, amount payable towards optional value-added programmes/ accessories, etc. Fees for hostel accommodation and food are also outside the purview of this grant.
1.4. Award of scholarship is a process independent of the admission process into any particular course. The student must fulfill the eligibility and admission criteria for any intended course and will be required to go through the admission process in the usual manner.
1.5. The student will receive the scholarship in each semester starting from the first semester. The scholarship amounts will be proportional to the fees payable as per the normal semester payment structure and will be incorporated in his/her revised fee payment plan as a scholarship holder. However, for the second semester onward the availability of the scholarship will be subject to the following
1.5.1. There should have been no instance of any disciplinary action against the student. In case any disciplinary proceeding against him/her is pending, the final outcome will be awaited before withdrawing the scholarship.
1.5.2. The student should not be a defaulter on payment of fees/other amounts including hostel fees/food charges, return of library books, etc.
Before payment of fees from the second semester onward, verification must be carried out, keeping in mind clause nos. 1.5.1 & 1.5.2, to check whether the student is eligible for the scholarship. If a student is no longer eligible for the scholarship in any subsequent semester(s), he/she will be required to pay the fees according to the normal fee payment plan.
1.6. On award of a scholarship for a particular course in a particular campus, the student must obtain admission in that particular course at that particular campus of NSHM Knowledge Campus immediately through the usual admission process. Failing this, the scholarship may be released to the next candidate. However, the student must bear in mind thatany admission is subject to the availability of a seat in the said course at that point of time for admitting the student and mere award of a scholarship will not confirm availability of a seat for admission
1.7. In the event that the grant of scholarship is withdrawn for a student, then such student shall be liable to make full payment of fees as per the applicable normal (without scholarship) fee-payment plan and shall be bound to clear all arrears within the prescribed time.
1.8. A scholarship cannot be combined with any other fee-waiver (under any other scheme/policy which may be in force, including fee-waiver for siblings of students, etc.) The student can avail either any one scholarship awarded or any one of the fee-waiver schemes.
1.9. Scholarship awarded for a particular course is not transferable to a different course.
1.10. Scholarship awarded at a particular campus is not transferable to a different campus.
1.11. Scholarship awarded for admission in a particular academic year is not transferable to a different academic year.
1.12. In case any other external scholarship amount/grant etc. towards a student’s fees is received by the institute in excess of the fees payable by the student himself/herself, the scholarship amount will be reduced to the said extent. The norms of any government body will be, however, complied with in this regard.
1.13. In case of a Bank Loan, it will be the responsibility of the student to ensure that the amount of loan disbursed is not in excess of the fees payable by the student himself/herself. No such excess amount can be refunded to the student; it will be refunded to the bank and it will be the responsibility of the student to get this adjusted against outstanding loan as per bank’s policy and practice.
1.14. No amount paid by way of scholarship will be considered in any calculation for refund of fees to a student. In such cases, computation of fees for past semesters will be according to the normal (without scholarship) fee structure.
1.15. All communication to applicants through any mode, including the notice board and/or the official website of the respective campuses (Durgapur/Kolkata) of NSHM Knowledge Campus,shall be deemed to be adequate communication received by the applicants.
1.16. The institute reserves its rights to interpret and/or make necessary additions/alterations/ deletions in the terms and conditions of the Scholarship and such decisions will be final and binding on the applicants.
1.17. For any issue not specified or covered in this policy note, the institute will have the right to frame and follow its respective rules and regulations and will be within its right and authority to take decisions on the merits of specific case(s) and such decisions will be binding upon all concerned and affected.
1.18. The institute, the concerned Trusts, or any of their employees shall not be liable to the applicants or persons related to the applicants, under any circumstances, for punitive, exemplary, special, indirect or consequential damage of any kind, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of trade and business interruption.
1.19. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with an award of scholarship will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in Kolkata, India, where the registered offices of the Trusts are located and shall be governed by the laws of the republic of India.
1.20. The institute shall not be liable for any delay or failure in performance of any of its obligations related to the scholarship when such delay or failure arises from the events or circumstances beyond their reasonable control (including, without limitation, Acts of God, fire, flood, war, explosion, sabotage, terrorism, embargo, imminence or the existence of any state of emergency, civil commotion, acts or omissions of any government entity, supplier delays, communications or power failure, equipment or software malfunction, or labour disputes).

Provision for Document Checking

Applicants for scholarship will be required to submit attested photo-copies of documents in respect of past academic examinations and eligibility criteria at the time of submission of scholarship application and to furnish the original documents as proof, for verification and return, at that point of time and also at any subsequent point of time, as may be required by the institute.

Failure to produce valid documents to the satisfaction of the institute shall make the application for scholarship invalid. No alternative date may be provided for production of any such document/s.

Notwithstanding production and verification of documents as stated above, the institute will be within its rights to ask for any additional documentary proof at any point of time. If at any stage a document submitted is found to be false/invalid, a scholarship awarded based on that will be withdrawn and treated as void ab initio.

Provision for Representation of Individual Categories of Applications in Scholarship Awards

Depending on the total number of applications received under individual categories, the institute may, at its sole discretion, provide for, inclusion of a certain minimum number/minimum percentage of applicants (to be determined at the sole discretion of the institute) from each category in the scholarship award list. Application of this discretion is, however, not by way of a commitment at any stage of the scholarship award process. Even when this discretion is used, the institute may keep a minimum cut-off for one or more selection parameters and/or an overall cut-off.
