Overview of the Networking topic for Class 10:

Types of Networks

1. LAN (Local Area Network): Connects devices in a limited geographical area, such as a home, office building, or campus.

2. WAN (Wide Area Network): Spans a larger geographical area, such as a city, country, or even multiple countries.

3. MAN (Metropolitan Area Network): Connects devices in a metropolitan area, such as a city or town.

4. WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network): Connects devices wirelessly in a limited geographical area.

 

Network Topology

1. Bus Topology: All devices connect to a single cable (backbone).

2. Star Topology: All devices connect to a central device (hub or switch).

3. Ring Topology: Devices connect in a circular configuration.

4. Mesh Topology: Each device connects to every other device.

 

Network Devices

1. Router: Connects multiple networks and routes data between them.

2. Switch: Connects multiple devices within a network and forwards data.

3. Hub: Connects multiple devices within a network, but does not forward data.

4. Modem: Connects a network to the internet via a broadband connection.
